Don't get me wrong, I love Michael Bay. No one can blow stuff up like Michael Bay! But watching Transformers 2, I actually got tired of watching stuff go boom. In fact, there was so much stuff going boom, I think my brain actually shut down for lack of any story. All of Michael Bay's stuff focuses way too much on special effects. They take time away from character development and plot to make room for more and more. Plus even you like that sort of thing, explosions in movies these days are lame b/c it's just cgi.
I felt that way, too. It wasn't just the explosions trying to hide the lack of plot, but exploiting stereotypes and using raunchy sight gags for humor, while kids are watching. I would say watching Transformers 2 is like watching paint dry, but I wouldn't dare insult paint drying like that. The plot was awful, the acting horrible horrible plus a little terrible. The robot fights- weak. It's so far from the first in quality it seems like a 5year old puppy created it. 1/10 stars.
During the robot fight in egypt, when those annoying parents all of the sudden show-up for no explicable reason, I said to myself, "enough!" and I walked-out!

I wish they would have edited the movie down so the fights were not as long and I wish they would have kept the parents parts down to the bare minimum.

The Mom is especially annoying.

Honestly, as much as I hate to admit it, since I am a Transformers fan, yes. The explosions as somebody else already mentioned, seemed like it trying to cover up for a lack of a plot. The characters from the first film such as Ironhide and Ratchet are reduced to background characters, while most of the screen time is given to those two annoying street talking twins. Ugh. I guess it's to much to ask for an intelligent, thought provoking movie about transforming robots.

I forced myself to watch Transformers Twice. Didnt care for it much, either time. The only thing I liked in that movie were the amazing special effects on the robots. Anyway, here are the reasons, it sucked:



1) Michael Bay did not follow the original script/story that screenwriters Orci and Kurtzman laid out.



Here's what they said in an interview: "We were very surprised when we saw it, too, and it鈥檚 a choice that was made. If anything, it just shows you that we don鈥檛 control every aspect of the movie."



2) Production was rushed to meet the premiere deadline.



3) Autobots got shoved to the side for more extended human drama %26amp; military action.



4) Too much attention spent on CGI at the cost of crafting a good story or character development.



5) I really think Steven Spielberg (exec producer) had a hand creatively in Transformers 1. I guess he was really distracted by other things during the making of the sequel.



Shia Labeouf sums it up perfect: "We got lost. We tried to get bigger. It's what happens to sequels. It's like, how do you top the first one? You've got to go bigger. Michael Bay went so big that it became too big, and I think you lost the anchor of the movie."

A three year old should not be watching a movie that dark and filled with so much violence, much less anything rated PG13. I would have to say yes, it is too young to be getting into that kind of thing. What did you think of the new Transformers movie?

I liked it alot. i thought it was a good movie. I did get a little annoyed by some of the charicters (twins, sams roomate) and wished they showed more of the other new transformers but i understand the time limit. One thing that concernd me was the language in the move. Bad language doen't bother me but this is supposed to be a kids movie and they were trying to make cussing funny.

How do you calculate energy consumption using CTs(current transformers)?

We have three power lines coming into house. only two of them have power. If I put one current transformer on each of the power lines(not on the ground line), If the voltage coming into house if 208 volts and the current transformers are reading 3.1V and 2.8V respectively. how do we calculate total power consumption of the house in VA and and Watts?

As you said in house three power lines are coming. I think there are only two lines one for phase and other for neural or return path to current. It is the supply system for domestic. One more thing a current transformer always give current in the line not voltage.

Let voltage is 200 volt and current is 0.1 amp ( reading of current transformer ) and turn ratio of transformer is 10:1. Then current in phase wire will be 1 amp. And total power in kva will be 200*1=200watt. Now if power factor is 0.5 then kw=kva/0.5=400watt.

The terminal leads of one coil are connected to an alternating current source, and is called the primary coil. The terminal leads of the second coil are connected to the electrical load and is called the secondary coil. In a typical power transformer, both coils are wound around a common iron alloy core.



The energized primary coil and core forms an alternating electromagnet. The lines of magnetic flux produced by the primary, circulates through the core and induces alternating current flow in the secondary coil.



The voltage ratio between the primary coil and secondary is equal to the turns ratio (number of turns) in the primary and secondary coil. For example, if a transformer is designed to transform 480 volts applied to the primary coil, to 240 volts across the secondary coil, there will be twice as many turns in the primary coil as the secondary coil (turns ratio is 2 : 1). But whey we need the transformer?



When we do the electrical energy transportation. from location to another we found it is very useful to increase the value of the voltage as much as we can and reduce the value of the current as much as we can, this actually reduce the energy losses during the transportation process

And when we reaches to the usage point such very high voltage and low current is not useful, simply because we need a very high value of the current to distribute it for many usage, more over the very high value of the voltage is very dangers and will destroy the electric devices.

Here we need the transformers, we need it at the beginning to increase the voltage/reduce the current and we need it at the end to act vise vers.

and we do this control by controlling the ratio between the no. of turns for each coil

Did anyone else notice how sub-par the graphics in some of the scenes of Transformers: ROFT were? Especially in the scenes involving the twins. It was easy to tell they were being animated. Also, in a lot of the scenes the transformers seemed to be jerky! In most scenes it was near impossible to distinguish them from real metal objects but in some scenes it was just atrocious. I am a computer graphics major so maybe my eye is more tuned to see and critique these kinds of thinks, but let me know if you noticed them too. I am talking about those little black, block-like dc transformers that run all sorts of little electronic devices. I understand that they draw power even if the device is not attached to it. I am trying to figure out how much electricity I use a year each year since i have ten or so plugged in all the time, thanksHow much electricity do those little black transformers use even if they are not attached to a device?For the small ones it is such a tiny amount that it is difficult to even measure with ordinary equipment. Larger, regulated ones (like for a laptop) do have easily measurable current draws during idle time, but even this power consumption is pretty insignificant and will amount to only a few pennies worth of power each month. You can easily save more power by remembering to always turn off the lights when you leave a room than you can by worrying about the parasitic power of the wall warts.



WKHow much electricity do those little black transformers use even if they are not attached to a device?These little power devices, commonly called wall warts or wall bugs, don't supply a lot of power and don't draw a lot even when in use. When they are not in use, they do still draw some current, but with no load their impedance goes up and the draw on your electricity becomes very minimal.



If you have a lot of them and want to know what the total draw is, plug them into a plug strip (string two or more together if you have to) and measure the the draw with a clamp on ammeter. You could measure the draw with and without load to see what the difference is. Maybe you could borrow the ammeter or find somebody that will do this for you. It's not a big job. You do need a cord that will let you clamp around just one wire to get a reading. You can actually buy this kind of cord and clamp on ammeters are lower in price than they used to be.

Why does a high frequency allow a smaller transformer to be used?



It seems to me that for a given wattage supply, whether switching or not, the same amount of power passes through the transformer. Since only the frequency of the input voltage is changed, but not the voltage itself, the currents in the transformer's windings should also be the same for either supply type.

I think the script was initially written with Megan Fox's character in mind. In the movie, Rosie Whiteley's character (the replacement) requires her to work with Patrick Dempsey (which is key to the story) in his rich Vintage Auto shop (the original character would have fit right in). The British replacement was more of the talk type than the action type. Should the makers of the movie Transformers, make prequels of Transformers like they did with Star Wars?

I am a Transformers (and Star Wars) fan and would sure like to see the final days of THE BATTLE OF CYBERTRON (which the Autobots lost and had to go into exile) where the Autobots kick the 'rear-end' of Deceptocons even though they ultimately lose the war. Loved the giant robot battles in all the three movies so guess prequel (if made) would have plenty of them. Well, as far as battle scenes are concerned, yes, they can be made spectacular in a prequel. This is because the Laws of Gravity, Atmosphere and Environmental conditions would be different from Earth. So, they can let their imagination go wild while creating battle scenes.



But the main problem in creating a prequel would probably be arranging hierarchy and interactions between the Primes (those who died for Earth by hiding The Matrix Of Leadership) and Optimus (Remember he too is a prime) and finally, Fallen (The Villain Prime). Add Sentinel Prime to the equation and it gets more messed up. However, this can still be pulled off by some clever planning.



So, all in all, a prequel would still be worth the shot!



NOTE TO KAYA: I think you got confused between prequel and sequel. Also, I don't know which critics you referred but according to ........ Times of India report on July 4, 2011: "Transformers: Dark of the Moon' has become the biggest weekend opening grosser so far in the domestic market, with 97.4 million dollars".......... Only a hit movie can make this much cash. And Megatron did not destroy optimus alone. He destroyed Optimus with Starscream and Grindor whilst all the Autobots were hiding in the bushes seeing what will happen next..



And when Optimus came back, he was weak so he needed Jetfire's parts to defeat The Fallen.

Like before they scan a vehicle to transform into it, do transformers just look like regular robots with no vehicle parts?What do the transformers (autobots/decepticons) look like before they take the form of a vehicle?If you mean the movie Transformers then Yes and No. Every Transformer changed into something on Cybertron, but underneath every Transformer is a Protoform, their original body that can scan and obtain a new transformation any time.

The ones who came to earth as a comet did so by transforming into a flyer mode. They shed their outer layer which would be most of their alt. mode when they fly through space. Space debris and other matter (space dust, forming ice) gathers and creates a protective barrier for re-entry into a planet's atmosphere. Once landing the robot scans a new alt. mode and, using nearby raw material and/or whatever metal they have gathered on their body, create their desired transformation.



Megatron is the big exception, his Cybertron mode was an alien jet and he followed the All-spark to earth all the way from Cybertron. His entry on to earth made him so red hot that when he landed in the arctic the ice melted beneath his feet and trapped him.

The Decepticons who joined the battle in the dessert didn't get alt. modes because they were created to die, nothing more, don't worry about them.

Starscream's Cybertronian mode was his space flyer mode, and Optimus' was a flying truck-thing shaped like his flyer mode



In the original story Transformers have a transformation that's part of their body, but after coming to earth they were given disguises that mimicked earth technology, but also resembled their original transformation. Optimus Prime was a Cybertronian truck with optional camper-trailer but when he came to earth he was given a Semi and trailer vehicle mode. Megatron was a tank but was given a (mass-changing) Walther P-38 hand gun transformation due to his body's gun barrels.

Hundreds of years later in the Beast-era Transformer bodies began life as a fine nano-bot shell containing their Spark (Transformer life force) called a Protoform. When their stasis pod scans for a suitable transformation an outer body is formed and the robot comes online. The protoform looks like liquid metal but it's actually millions of fine tiny nano-bots that will adapt and comprise their new form (one of the ideas Michael Bay lifted for his movie but changed)What do the transformers (autobots/decepticons) look like before they take the form of a vehicle?I can only come up with one time when we see a Transformer before they have scanned/received any alternate-form, and that's in the Beast Wars episode "The Spark." Before she comes on-line, Airazor is seen as what appears to be a mass of silvery liquid metal, which stabilized into a rather featureless robotic form.



The only other instances I can think of where a Transformer did not have a locally scanned alternate form, they were at least implied to have had an alternate form native to Cybertron, which gave some definition to their robot mode even if we never saw the alternate form in question.What do the transformers (autobots/decepticons) look like before they take the form of a vehicle?duhhh

In AC circuits if the load is more capacitive or inductive the current can lead or lag behind the voltage curve so there is a difference between true power and apparent power. True power divided by apparent power gives the power factor. So a transformer is rated on what it has to deliver in actual voltage and current in order to deliver the true power, and this minimizes possible misunderstanding, misuse, and over-stressing a transformer by calculating its requirements by the actual power delivered to a highly reactive load.

Apparent power is the actual voltage times the actual current but this current might be used in charging a capacitor which then discharges back into the supply in the next half cycle.

So no real power is dissipated.



Motors and transformers can also get a magnetic field which also holds energy until the next half cycle delivers it back to the mains.

So no real power is dissipated.



However, all this current has to be provided by the transmission lines and transformers. So the transformers have to be rated in KVA where the VA is just the product of the voltage and the current.



Real power is dissipated (and charged for ) when the Voltage and Current happen at the same time each instant even though they are both varying. This is measured in Kilowatts and the Electric Company would like as much as possible of the Volt Amps passing through their system to be Watts.Why are transformers rated in KVA and Not Kilowatts?Both the primary and the secondary windings and the core have to be designed on the basis of the full voltage and current which the transformer will experience. Voltage goes into determining insulation thickness, core cross section and numbers of turns. Current provides the basis for the copper cross sections of windings. So basically the capability (rating) of the transformer is determined by Volts x Current i.e. VA or kVA.



The kilowatts it transforms are normally lower than that number by the power factor.

It is one half of the total equation, the MATRIX being the other half. The Matrix grants a robot an actual SOUL, a moral sense of right and wrong, basic programming. It is these two forces in harmony that create true Transformers, and thus why the Transformers required TWO leaders (evidenced in the Prequel comics to the first transformers movie). Optimus was the keeper of the Matrix, and Megatron was the keeper of the Allspark. They ruled as one, until Megatron decided he alone should rule and attempted to bend the Allspark to his own desires, which instigated the war.

This is why the allspark alone only creates heartless, mindless, moral-less monsters. It is not in balance with the Matrix, seperated by billions of lightyears and who knows how many centuries. And without the Allspark, the Matrix is incapable of actually endowing a robot with life, but still possesses an incredible amount of power that could be converted some other way.

Again, may be out dated, may not have been the TRUTH from the beginning, but the philosophy made sense when it was brought up, and it connected nicely to the two-leader set up in the prequel comics. I hope this helped.
