The only thing i can think of is that in the book when they were asking who would join the fight all the Gryfindors stood up...so maybe Harry put on the robes before the fight to honor Hogwarts/Gryfindor. It would be like wearing an emblem into battle i guess. I know it's before the fight though because no one is all bloody xD
